Pharmapedia is an online peer-reviewed pharmaceutical knowledge and expertise repository. It brings together and facilitates an exchange of knowledge, expertise and ideas among pharmacy practitioners in all areas of practice. Pharmapedia provides access to basic and advanced pharmacy and medicines management information, written by practitioners for practitioners.

Information about medicines, diseases and conditions, physiology, and health and lifestyle are included.

Pharmapedia aims to be a comprehensive online reference and learning resource for pharmacy practitioners and other health care professionals. Contributors can cite their contributions and reviewing activity if applicable as part of their continuing professional development. Practitioners with common areas of expertise and interest (“communities of practice”) can discuss, collaborate and foster partnerships.

Pharmapedia is not meant to replace any other source of pharmaceutical information or publication; it intends to complement existing sources and eventually link them together.

Pharmapedia occupies an empty niche among health professional wikis. It intends to grow as the most comprehensive wiki-based pharmacy resource with global contributors and experts.

Pharmapedia is based on wiki technology. This means that registered account holders can freely edit the content of the site. This allows Pharmapedia to be a collaborative venture where the content is continually updated and refined. Content is available instantaneously which allows new developments, innovations and best practices to be made available and shared with the pharmacy community quicker than via any other online or printed medium. 

As a wiki, Pharmapedia content is user generated, primarily by pharmacy practitioners. Credibility of the content rests with Pharmapedia Reviewers and the practitioner community at large. The governance structure of Pharmapedia ensures that expert practitioners are nominated as Reviewers and are responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of the content. They are able to provide quality assessments of each article, allowing users to determine the accuracy of the information. 

The viewing of Pharmapedia content is restricted to account holders. Registering for an account is free and simple, and accounts are accepted from registered pharmacy practitioners or other credible professionals.
